Asaiah Harville,IBCLC

Birth Equity Manager

Asaiah Harville is the Birth Equity Manager for Cherished Futures for Black Moms & Babies with the Alliance. Prior to joining the Alliance, Asaiah worked to support families on their infant feeding journey. She has worked in the hospital providing inpatient support and education for families and created and taught prenatal breastfeeding courses for the community in an effort to educate and support informed infant feeding decisions.  

 

She started the first outpatient lactation clinic in South Los Angeles to address the disparity in infant feeding that exists, free of charge to families. In addition to working with families, she has collaborated with physicians to provide education to perinatal department staff within the hospital. She has a commitment and a passion to support Black families and other historically underrepresented groups to navigate their journey of parenthood and infant feeding as one of the solutions to Black maternal and infant health disparities. Asaiah has a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development from Azusa Pacific University and is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

Cherished Futures is a multi-sector collaborative effort to reduce Black infant deaths and improve patient experience and safety for Black mothers and birthing people in Los Angeles County by driving systems change at the clinical, institutional and community levels.
